As we move through 2025, ACRA has introduced a few important changes that every finance team should be aware of. Whether you’re a growing startup, SME or publicly listed company, staying updated helps you avoid penalties and ensures timely filing.
1. Updated BizFinx Filing Tools
ACRA has phased out the older BizFinx Preparation Tool v3.4.
To ensure your submission is accepted, make sure you’re now using the following versions:
- BizFinx Prep Tool v3.4.1
- BizFinx Multi-Upload Tool v3.4.0
These can be downloaded directly from the ACRA website.
2. Filing Deadlines Based on Entity Type
Your company’s deadline depends on its classification:
- Listed companies must file within 5 months after their financial year-end.
- Non-listed companies have 7 months to file.
Example:
If your company’s financial year ends on 31 March 2025:
- Listed companies must file by 31 August 2025
- Non-listed companies must file by 31 October 2025
Set internal reminders early to avoid late filing penalties.

3. Don’t Delay If You Need an Extension
Need more time to prepare your XBRL submission? You can apply for an Extension of Time (EOT) through ACRA’s portal. Processing usually takes 3 to 7 working days, so apply early, especially if relying on external service providers.
4. XBRL Templates by Company Type
To streamline the process, ACRA provides different templates depending on your entity:
- Full XBRL (approx. 210 fields)
- Simplified XBRL (approx. 120 fields)
- Special templates for banks and insurance companies (approx. 80 fields)
Using the correct template prevents submission errors and saves preparation time.
5. Heavier Penalties for Non-Compliance
Failing to file on time can result in:
- A S$300 penalty if filed within 3 months after the deadline
- Up to S$600 if filing is delayed beyond 12 months
- In serious cases, directors may be disqualified and the company could be struck off the register (Related: Wind Up vs Strike Off)
These penalties are outlined on ACRA’s Penalties for Late Filing page.
